DESCRIPTION:Kitsap Strong is celebrating National Parent Leadership Month in February 2026! National Parent Leadership Month honors parents and caregivers whose leadership strengthens families\, communities\, and systems. This nomination form invites community members\, children\, and parents themselves\, to uplift parenting leadership rooted in care\, advocacy\, consistency\, and lived wisdom that creates pathways to well-being for others.  Join us for a family-friendly community recognition event elevating the format of Story Night around parent leadership on Saturday\, February 7th from 3:00-5:00PM at the Village Event Center \n\n\nWhat We Mean by Parent Leadership. Parent leadership does not require a title or public role. Leadership can be quiet\, relational\, and behind the scenes\, and that leadership matters. It shows up in everyday actions such as caring for others\, building trust\, sharing knowledge\, advocating when needed\, and helping families and communities feel safer\, more connected\, and more hopeful. If you’re unsure whether something counts as leadership\, it does.\n\nWhile this recognition takes place during National Parent Leadership Month\, we recognize that not all people who parent identify as “parents.” We warmly encourage nominations of anyone who plays a meaningful parenting or caregiving role in a child’s life — including grandparents\, kinship caregivers\, foster caregivers\, and others who provide consistent care\, guidance\, and leadership. \n\nRecognition.  Parents and caregivers selected for recognition during National Parent Leadership Month will be honored in a variety of ways\, including:\n\n\nInvitation to attend a family-friendly community recognition event elevating the format of Story Night around parent leadership on Saturday\, February 7th from 3:00-5:00PM at the Village Event Center\nInvitation to attend a sponsored movie night at the Admiral Theatre on Friday\, February 27th \nFeature their stories through email communications\, or recognition in local publications or community articles.\n\n\nAll recognition is optional\, consent-based\, and shaped by the parent or caregiver’s comfort and choice.  Come join us and meet who have been recognized.   This program is made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Suquamish Tribe and Suquamish Foundation.
