Kitsap County will hold a public workshop Oct. 29 on its Rural Lands Analysis, a project evaluating land-use patterns, policies and regulations in unincorporated Kitsap County to lay the groundwork for future rural planning decisions.

Kitsap County will hold a public workshop Oct. 29 on its Rural Lands Analysis, a project evaluating land-use patterns, policies and regulations in unincorporated Kitsap County to lay the groundwork for future rural planning decisions.

The workshop runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Village Green Community Center in Kingston. Capacity is limited to 60 people, and registration is required through the county’s workshop registration form.

As part of the analysis, the county’s Salmon Recovery in Local Planning Project is identifying strategies in local salmon recovery plans that intersect with land-use planning and policy. An Agriculture Advisory Council, a Forestry Working Group, a Salmon Recovery Team and a Technical-Policy Advisory Committee have been convened to guide the work.

The Department of Community Development is also updating Title 21 of the county code, which sets the procedures for processing land use and development applications and site-specific Comprehensive Plan amendments. The county says the goal is a process that is predictable, consistent and easy to follow for applicants, staff and the public.

The Kitsap County Planning Commission will not meet Nov. 3. Its next meeting is Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Chambers in Port Orchard. Questions go to Alicia Adler, Community Development communications and outreach coordinator, at aadler@kitsap.gov.
