Olympic College has been selected to join the Career and Technical Education Dual Credit Washington “Big Blur” Initiative, a competitive grant program led by Jobs for the Future. The statewide effort aims to better connect high school, college and career training for students in grades 11 through 14.
The initiative blends the last two years of high school with the first two years of college. It expands career and technical education dual credit programs so students can earn college credit while still in high school and move more quickly toward a degree, certificate or career.
Olympic College will work with local school districts, employers and workforce partners to build clearer pathways from education to jobs, with a focus on underserved students and on aligning programs with local job needs. The college hosted a kickoff event Oct. 8 with leaders from higher education, K-12 schools and the local workforce.
“This partnership will help students succeed while meeting our region’s workforce needs,” said Olympic College President Chantae Recasner.
The initiative begins with a planning phase focused on building partnerships. The college expects expanded programs and more student participation during the 2026–2027 academic year.
