How Entropy Healing Helps Kitsap Professionals Reset
For Dani Guthrie, chaos is not always something to avoid. Sometimes, it is the beginning of transformation.
“Entropy, to me, is a scientific word that explains how the natural world will tend toward chaos to bring about a new sense of harmony and balance,” Guthrie said. “I find that the healing journey is like that. Some kind of chaos in people’s lives is often the catalyst for their healing.”
That idea now sits at the center of Entropy Healing, the holistic wellness practice Guthrie founded in Kitsap County. Through Reiki, sound healing, tarot, and group workshops, she helps clients — including entrepreneurs, business owners, and professionals — step away from constant pressure, reset, and reconnect with themselves.
For Guthrie, healing is not about avoiding chaos. It is about understanding what it can reveal.
From Classroom to Healing Space
Guthrie’s path to entrepreneurship began in an elementary music classroom.
With a background in music education, she taught elementary music for about seven years before stepping back to raise her three children. Music, she said, has always been a source of connection.
“I’ve always been a spiritual person, and music connected me to that my whole life,” she said.
Growing up, Guthrie played saxophone, and that relationship with sound eventually became central to the work she does today.
During a particularly challenging period in her life, she experienced what she describes as a moment of clarity while running.
“I was running, and there was a voice that spoke to me very clearly that said, ‘We’ll take care of the hands, you do the rest,’” Guthrie said. “I didn’t know what that meant.”
Following what she calls “breadcrumbs,” Guthrie discovered Reiki online, explored tarot, and began incorporating breath, music, and movement into her personal practice.
“For about eight years, once I discovered tarot, I was incorporating that with my running and music and breath and just working on myself,” she said.
When a space became available in Poulsbo, she felt it was the right time to share that work with others.
“When I saw that a space opened up, it just felt like, this is the time, Dani, to start serving others in that way,” Guthrie said.
Entropy Healing was born.
Creating Space to Reset
While Guthrie’s offerings have evolved, her goal has remained consistent: creating a calm, intentional space where people can slow down.
“In our lives right now we are so busy, and there are so many things going on that when people come to a Reiki session, it is a clear, calm space where I hold space for you,” she said. “A lot of people need a space where they can come in and reset their nervous system. Really, that’s the biggest thing.”
Sessions often begin with conversation. Guthrie asks clients where they are in life and what they hope to work through before creating an intention for the session.
“I always start with talking about where people are at, so they can feel like they’re in a safe space, and we set intentions on what they want to work through,” she said.
From there, she combines Reiki, sound, guided meditation, chakra work, and ritual to help clients settle into a more grounded state.
“Our bodies don’t know the difference between the thought and the reality of something bad happening,” she said. “When our brains get stuck in loops — if it’s the news, our to-do list, or caring for other people — our body believes we’re actually in that fight or flight place.”
She said creating space allows people to reconnect with their own instincts.
“When we create space for ourselves, then it’s easier to know our next steps and to hear what we need, rather than what we think we’re supposed to be doing,” Guthrie said.
Reiki, Reflection and Inner Awareness
For people unfamiliar with Reiki, Guthrie describes it as an energy-based practice designed to support relaxation and awareness.
“It’s a hands-on healing modality, even though you don’t have to touch the body,” she said. “To me, it helps move energy in the body. When we have emotional experiences, they can get stuck in our physical body.”
She works with the chakra system and uses tools such as a pendulum to observe where energy may feel blocked or unbalanced.
“When you put it over an energy center — like your root, your sacrum, or your solar plexus — it’ll spin in a wheel if it’s in balance,” Guthrie said. “Sometimes if it’s not, it might be going straight up and down, side to side, or doing different shapes.”
Clients often describe the experience as unexpectedly calming.
“A lot of people didn’t know what it felt like to be that relaxed,” Guthrie said. “Some fall asleep. Others feel things physically — tingling, heaviness, or sensations in certain parts of their body when I use specific sounds or instruments.”
The Healing Power of Sound
Guthrie’s background in music heavily influences her sound healing practice, which she often calls “sound journeys.”
She uses crystal bowls, drums, rattles, chimes, chanting, and rain sticks to create an environment designed to encourage relaxation and reflection.
“When you play specific sounds and coordinate them with the breath, that sound helps bring your body back down to a more natural state of peace and calm,” she said.
For Guthrie, sound is not only about stress relief. It is also connected to creativity — something she believes is important for business owners and professionals.
“The act of listening, and even making music or experiencing it, opens up that right brain part of your body,” she said. “That’s where our imagination is. If you can’t imagine something happening, you can’t expect it to come. For people in business, when you have goals, you have to be able to imagine them first.”
Serving a Stressed Business Community
Many of Guthrie’s clients come to her during periods of change — career transitions, personal challenges, caregiving, or burnout.
“In my one-on-one sessions, there’s been a lot of people going through illness, or they’re caretaking for people and they’re overwhelmed,” Guthrie said. “A lot of people are in a stuck place and wanting more clarity on next steps and peace. People need peace.”
She sees personal well-being as closely connected to professional success.
“When you can see yourself as being whole, then you can show up for your family, your community, your work, and you can be of service,” she said.
As her business has grown, Guthrie has expanded beyond individual sessions to focus more on workshops, collaborations, and community events.
“In the business world, especially as an entrepreneur, it’s always on you to do that next thing,” Guthrie said. “We kind of feel like we’re on our own. I’ve found that people need that feeling of coming together more.”
Building Community Through Connection
Guthrie sees herself as both a teacher and a connector.
“I see myself as a connector and a teacher — connecting people to the parts of themselves they feel separated from, and connecting community through group events,” she said.
She has hosted sound journeys and workshops at local spaces including Kitsap Hot Yoga, organized seasonal gatherings such as Equinox and Beltane fairs, participated in community events, and collaborated with other practitioners.
She has also helped organize fundraisers, including one supporting Recovery Café, a local resource for people navigating addiction and recovery.
“These community events are a way we can support each other,” she said. “It connects business owners, shows the community what’s available, and lets people discover the thing they didn’t know they needed.”
Guthrie said holistic practitioners are also entrepreneurs building businesses in the community.
“It is a business community,” Guthrie said. “A lot of us have one foot in the ‘woo’ and one foot in business. You have to be brave enough to step up and put yourself out there a little bit.”
Astrology, Tarot and New Offerings
Guthrie continues to expand Entropy Healing with new ways for people to explore self-reflection.
Her website includes a choose-your-own-adventure style astrology blog, where readers can follow prompts and pathways based on their interests and curiosity. The blog blends astrology concepts with personal exploration, inviting readers to engage with the material in an interactive way.
She is also preparing to teach tarot classes — not as fortune-telling, but as a tool for reflection and understanding.
“It’s about helping people connect to their own inner compass,” she said.
Guthrie is also developing workshops for businesses and organizations, bringing group sound journeys and wellness experiences directly to workplaces.
In addition, she is writing a teaching memoir that weaves together entrepreneurship, motherhood, music, addiction, and healing through the framework of tarot.
“My book teaches the tarot through my personal stories,” Guthrie said. “It’s about how the cards can help us access our own stories and our personal blind spots.”
“We’re Ready for New Things”
For Guthrie, Entropy Healing is ultimately about helping people consider new possibilities.
“There’s a quote on my website: ‘If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve got,’” she said. “Where we’re at right now in the world is the result of doing things a certain way, so let’s try it a different way.”
She does not view holistic practices as a replacement for traditional health care, but as another tool for supporting overall wellness.
“A lot of holistic practices have existed for hundreds and thousands of years,” Guthrie said. “Our mindset and how we feel as we move through our day are just as important as our blood pressure, because they coincide together.”
Her message to the business community is an invitation to explore.
“Don’t be afraid to just have a meeting with an acupuncturist, or try a Reiki session,” she said. “You never know how you’ll feel afterward. We’re ready for new things.”
